Levitical, a term derived from Levite, originated from the name Levi, which was the third son of Jacob, conceived of Leah. (Genesis 29:34) According to the Mosaic account, recorded in the Bible, Torah and Koran, the Levite tribe was scattered throughout Israel and chosen to serve as priest unto God. So Levites served Israel as Rabbi, Priests or Ministers. Levitical means Priest or Minister.
